The word „gamer” is not a new concept in the English language. The term was first used in an article titled “The Gamers” published on April 28, 1981 by John Harris and Tom Limongello in the National Lampoon magazine.
According to Merriam-Webster, gamer originally meant someone who plays games for recreation or for pass time. But over time, it has become a derogatory term for gamers who are seen as obsessive, uptight, socially anxious individuals who are not willing to give up their gaming lifestyle and prefer living inside their game worlds rather than outside of it. Currently, one can refer to themselves as an „adult gamer” or a „A gamer’s bedroom is a relaxing space to play games and unwind. It can also be a place where they can make new friends, chat with their community members, or show off their game room.
As parents have gained more time with their children since the invention of the internet and smart devices, gaming has become an important avenue for connecting with children.In today’s world, where we have more and more responsibilities, it is crucial that parents can find a way to get their children involved in activities that are not screen-based.
